It's a classic mistake, even among some professionals. On VW Group vehicles (Golf R, Audi S3, Tiguan), there are two distinct systems requiring rigorous maintenance: the dual-clutch gearbox (DSG) and the Haldex coupler.
Two Oils, Two Circuits, Two Risks
Often, a customer asks for a 'gearbox service' and thinks the entire transmission system is covered. However, the Haldex has its own housing and its own oil. Ignoring the Haldex because the DSG has been serviced is a guarantee of seeing your Haldex pump burn out before 50,000 miles.
Check Your Invoices
If you own a 4-wheel drive vehicle, check that the 'Haldex coupler oil change' line appears every 3 years or 40,000 miles. If not, you have the right to claim for lack of duty to advise in case of failure.
