If you own a Gen 5 Haldex (VW, Audi, Volvo, JLR) and haven't broken down yet, preventive action is necessary. But is it something anyone can do?
Cleaning the screen
Since manufacturers refuse to include it in their maintenance plan, many owners decide to do it themselves or via an independent garage. The operation involves draining the oil, removing the pump motor (2 screws), cleaning the clogged screen with brake cleaner, reassembling, and refilling with specific oil (e.g., G060175A2).
Beware of recalibration
The trap is electronic: after the operation, it is often necessary to connect a diagnostic tool (like VCDS) to launch a pump learning procedure. Without this, the pressure may be incorrect. Our advice: find an independent specialist and avoid official networks.
