For several months, manufacturers have been offering software updates to 'optimize' the AdBlue system. But can you fix a physical defect (crystallization, tank deformation) with a few lines of code?
The 'Placebo' Effect of Software
These updates often modify sensor tolerance thresholds to prevent the warning light from coming on too early. While this reduces driver stress in the short term, it does not solve the underlying problem of the pump straining or the injector clogging. Worse, it can mask the problem until the warranty expires.
Be Vigilant
If your garage offers an update after an AdBlue fault, ask if it is accompanied by physical intervention (cap replacement, cleaning). If not, stay on your guard and join our monitoring collective.
