Since the tightening of European standards, the MOT test has become the terror of recent diesel vehicle owners. An illuminated AdBlue warning light (even intermittently) now equates to an automatic failure.
Smoke Opacity
Beyond the warning light, the MOT checks smoke opacity. If your SCR system is faulty or reprogrammed (AdBlue OFF), NOx and particulate emissions will skyrocket. A DPF clogged by the system's inability to regenerate without AdBlue will also result in a fail.
