AdBlue Scandal: Why Europe is getting involved and what it changes for you

Tensions are rising among diesel vehicle owners. Between accumulating repair bills and engine block threats, the AdBlue case is now taking on a European dimension. Here are the latest revelations.

Thousands of complaints filed

It's no longer a secret: the SCR system is faulty on many models (Peugeot 308, 208, Citroën C3, C4, etc.). Recently, a report highlighted the extent of the disaster: some technical centers replace up to three tanks per week!

Faced with this 'epidemic' of failures, the DGCCRF (Fraud repression) and the European Commission have been officially contacted. The goal? Force manufacturers to cover 100% of repairs.

Injector and Tank: The double penalty

While the tank is often the first culprit, the injector is not left out. An injector leak can lead to white smoke from the exhaust and a persistent ammonia smell. This often adds £300 to £500 to an already steep bill.

Watch out for 'AdBlue OFF'

Tempted to electronically remove the system? Beware: it's illegal. Moreover, MOT centers will be equipped next year with new tools capable of detecting this manipulation.
